Leonard Slatkin will conduct the Peabody Symphony Orchestra at Johns Hopkins University in a concert featuring renowned flutist Marina Piccinini. The program includes Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture, Aaron Jay Kernis’s Concerto for Flute, which Slatkin and Piccinini premiered last season with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Elgar’s Enigma Variations. This free event takes place on Saturday, April 15, at 8 p.m. in the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall at the Peabody Institute and will also be streamed live. The performance caps off Maestro Slatkin’s week in Baltimore, during which time he led conducting masterclasses, recording sessions, and rehearsals with the students of the Peabody Conservatory.
