    Volume levels have become an increasing problem for musicians. Several have suffered from hearing loss, and to help mitigate this situation, various devices have been utilized to help the players avoid permanent damage to their eardrums.

    But does this change what the listener receives or even alter the acoustics on stage? The answer is yes. What can you suggest to keep the income from pops concerts flowing in but the aural dimension of the musicians undamaged? And what about the audience? Are they the unwilling victims of a sonic barrage, and what can we do about it? Please respond with questions or comments.

SEPTEMBER 2021: Birthday Edition

Birthdays seem to come more frequently these days. And those of the past are getting more difficult to remember. Where was I last year at this time? There were certainly lots of well-wishers, and my inbox was fuller than usual.

77 is a number that conjures up nothing. Okay, there was that TV show (77 Sunset Strip) and song from back in the late Fifties, but as far as anniversaries go, it is just a blip on the birthday radar.
